Founded in 1920 by Eitel Woeller in Kitchener, Ontario, the company originally sold European upholstery fabrics to furniture manufacturers and upholsterers across Canada.

The Brentano Design Studio, led by Iris Wang, has grown from a modest eight patterns in 1990, into an international source for residential, hospitality and commercial fabrics for both upholstery and drapery. Maharam was founded in 1902 by Louis Maharam, a Russian immigrant.
Through the generations, Maharam evolved from a source of theatrical textiles for costume and set design in the 1940s to a pioneer of performance-driven textiles for commercial interiors in the '60s.

Perfect Fit, established in 1924 and McDonald & Co, established in 1912 were competitors who came under the same ownership in 1965 and the companies finally merged in 1980 under a single name.

In 1952, Elliott Gensler opened Park Upholstery in Minneapolis, Minnesota to provide for his future family. After a few tough years, Park Upholstery began to grow because of Elliott’s hard work and dedication.
